After the icy asphalt of Rally Monte-Carlo and the heavy snow of the Swedish Rally, head to Kenya for the muddy and sandy roads of the Safari Rally! The third stage of the 2024 season of WRC is going to Africa for the one and only time of the year, for an event that promises to be spectacular again! Indeed, the Safari Rally was brought forward from June to the end of March, in the middle of the rainy season. Enough to spice up this legendary WRC event a little more, which returned to the calendar in 2021.

Toyota remains on two consecutive quadruplets in Kenya, a performance that the Japanese team will not be able to repeat this weekend because only three GR Yaris Rally1s are entered, with the duo Elfyn Evans – Takamoto Katsuta completed by Kalle Rovanperä.

Kalle Rovanperä could hardly have done better on Stage 1: the Finn set the best time on all the special stages of the day on Friday, with an impressive 6/6 on this Safari Rally! A perfect score which allows him to lead the Rally from Kenya, and already with a good lead in the general classification. The double world champion is almost a minute ahead of his closest pursuer, Elfyn Evans. A crucial lead while rain could disrupt Saturday's day in Kenya...

Toyota was on track to deliver another excellent result for the Kenyan but Elfyn Evans lost two minutes in SS8 due to a flat wheel. Katsuta goes 2nd, Neuville 3e.

The Japanese team still benefited from the setbacks of Hyundai Friday afternoon: Esapekka Lappi (transmission) and Ott Tänak (suspension) left this Saturday with heavy time penalties because they did not finish the previous stage. Only Thierry Neuville correctly defends the colors of Hyundai.

Saturday March 30 (150,88 km)

07h – SS9: Elementaita 1, 15,08 km
08h – SS10: Sleeping Warrior 1, 36,08 km
12h – SS11: Soysambu 2, 29,32 km
13h – SS12: Elementaita 2, 15,08 km
14h – SS13: Sleeping Warrior 2, 36,08 km
