Thierry Neuville: “Making concrete results”

Twice at Rally Monte-Carlo and Sweden, Thierry Neuville had all the cards in hand to win with the new i20 Coupe WRC. But twice, the native of Saint-Vith made a small mistake with serious consequences, causing him to lose two results which would have taken him to the top of the general championship ranking after two races.

The potential of the Hyundai i20 Coupe seems certain, and Neuville, winner of the Legend Boucles de Bastogne last weekend on a Porsche 911, demonstrated a more than interesting level of performance. Enough to give hope before the next world meeting.

“It now remains to be confirmed on Mexican soil (March 10-12. Editor’s note) and above all to be concretized by a result, confides Neuville. Unfortunately, we will benefit from an excellent position in the starting order on the first day, and that is very important there.

But it is another test, with other conditions, notably altitude, which it is often difficult to reproduce exactly in tests. I think we will be competitive there, but it still remains to be seen if we will be as strong as in the first two rounds. We have to wait a little longer to get a real idea of the potential of each of the forces present. »
