This is the kind of result that no one saw coming. A few months ago, at Safari or in Estonia, the Hyundai i20 Hybrid Rally1 struggled to finish rallies in one piece. Pilots found it increasingly difficult to hide their weariness in the face of accumulating problems and delays in reliability. Even Thierry Neuville, usually always able to be positive and engage in a fight, appeared affected by this situation. Ott Tänak had been able to seize two opportunities in Finland and Ypres to position themselves as the last bulwark before the coronation of Kalle Rovanperä.
