Le Rally of Croatia 2024 descended into madness in the space of a few minutes. On the same special stage, SS18, three road exits occurred. The two favorites for victory, Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and Elfyn Evans (Toyota), made a mistake, spectacularly!

Fortunately, both the Welshman and the Belgian were able to leave. The damage only appears to be cosmetic and they should continue to fight for the podium. These two accidents allow Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) to take the lead in the Croatian Rally! The Frenchman, cleaner in his driving, is 9 and 11 seconds ahead of Evans and Neuville two special stages from the finish of this 4th round of the WRC 2024.

“There was a series of turns, and when I got the note (from my co-pilot), it was too late ", said Neuville

A few moments earlier, Adrien fourmaux (M-Sport Ford) had hit a concrete block used to demarcate the road and prevent competitors from diving too far at the edge of a turn. The Frenchman damaged his right front axle, and his rally could have ended there.

Fortunately, the Northerner and his co-driver Alexandre Coria repaired the Ford Puma Rally1 and lost “only” 15 minutes. Of course, they won't score any points on Sunday, but as long as they manage to complete the event (i.e. finish the Power Stage of the WRC), they will score the points for 5th place won virtually on Saturday evening.

And if you haven't understood this principle of championship points, don't panic, here is our guide!
