1. Who is Matthieu Vaxiviere?

Matthieu Vaxiviere is a French racing driver. His date of birth is December 3, 1994. His place of birth is Limoges. The Habs comes from a family of pilots. He is the grandson of Jean-Pierre Champeau and the nephew of Mark Champeau, two rally drivers.

2. Matthieu Vaxiviere’s junior career

Matthieu Vaxiviere started in karting in 2005. He won the French F4 championship in 2011 by scoring a double at the Pau Grand Prix before becoming a Lotus F1 Junior Team driver in 2014 after carrying out end-of-season testing. In 2016, he drove in Formula V8 3.5 and the Asian Le Mans Series.

Formula V8 3.5 runner-up during the 2015 season with Lotus, Matthieu Vaxiviere takes charge of the WEC for the 2017 season with TDS Racing, in LM P2.

He scored a podium at the 6 Hours of Silverstone in his first race. His adventure in the French team ended with two podiums at Le Mans before heading to Alpine in the higher category during the 2021 season.

Despite his commitment to the WEC, the Limoges native made a return to GP3 at the wheel of a DAMS single-seater in Hungary in 2017. He competed in the two rounds in Budapest as well as the following two meetings at Spa.

Matthieu Vaxiviere finally discovered the 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 2017 season in LM P2. He twice finished in third place in this category, in 2019 and 2020 with the TDS Racing team, before choosing to join Alpine, where Philippe Sinault becomes his boss, from the 2021 season.

A team with which Mathieu Vaxiviere finished 3rd in the general classification of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2021 with Alpine and his teammates André Negrão and Nicolas Lapierre. He took pole position at the 8 Hours of Portimão, the second round of the 2021 WEC season.

The Frenchman finished on the podium of the 24 Hours three years in a row, from 2019 to 2021. In 2019 and 2020 with TDS Racing in LM P2 and in 2021 in Hypercar with Alpine. He achieved his first Endurance success in 2022 at the 1000 Miles of Sebring.

Vaxiviere also scored three podiums in IMSA: at Sebring and Petit Le Mans with the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi in 2019 and at the 24 2021 Hours of Daytona with Tower Motorsport in LM P2.

Matthieu Vaxiviere is a fast driver. He demonstrated this by setting the best lap in a race at Le Mans in 3:27.611 in the LM P2 category and the first pole position in the history ofAlpine in the world endurance championship during the 8 Hours of Portimão 2021.

His last stint in the race at the 6 Hours of Monza 2022 with Alpine demonstrated that the native of Limoges was one of the fastest and most incisive drivers in the WEC and Endurance.
