Sébastien Ogier (Ford Fiesta) set the provisional best time in the shakedown of the Rally Monte-Carlo at the end of its first two passages. The four-time champion of WRC established the first reference time by completing the 3,5km course in 2'18''1. The Frenchman precedes his former teammate Andreas Mikkelsen by a little more than 4 seconds, astonishingly on his Skoda Fabia R5.
Ott Tänak (Ford) is in 3rd place, almost 2 seconds behind the Norwegian and one second ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota Yaris). Hayden Paddon (Hyundai i20) completes the provisional top 5, 6 tenths behind the Finn. Dani Sordo follows his New Zealand teammate by 2 tenths. Juho Hänninen (Toyota) is 7th ahead Thierry Neuville (Hyundai).
Citroën drivers are in clear decline with Craig Breen (DS 3) and Stéphane Lefebvre (C3) are 17 seconds behind Sébastien Ogier, while Kris Meeke is 20 seconds behind.
