Alain Prost remains in the lead in Andros

Alain Prost (Dacia Duster), leader of the Andros Trophy for a long time, retained the lead in the general classification this weekend. However, at Isola 2000, things were not easy for Prost: firstly due to significant ballast in race 1, then by the deterioration of the track conditions, with ice giving way to tarmac.

During the second race of the weekend, it was these track conditions which influenced the classification of the qualifying heats. “The track deteriorated over the course and I was not able to beat the times set at the start of the round. Anyway, I am the fastest of the drivers competing for the title, so our level of performance is satisfactory,” he noted after the first round. In the second, the times were not improved.

In the final, starting on the front row alongside Jonathan Hirschi, Alain Prost managed to remain without position, without managing to catch the Swiss driver. The four-time World Champion thus finished the final in second position, obtaining third place in this second round of Isola 2000, which allows him to retain the reins of the general classification.

“The results of the day are positive, since we finished ahead of all our direct opponents for the title,” explained Alain Prost. “However, it is difficult to analyze the way in which the two races of the weekend took place. I never had the feeling of driving the car I would have liked to have. Adapting the settings to the evolution of the track, managing ballast and tires are all parameters that were difficult to agree on this weekend. This is proof of the complexity of this discipline! We were not the only ones in this case and I take comfort in noting that our main opponents generally did less well this weekend. We will obviously continue to work to approach the next race weekend in the best conditions. »
