Alain Prost wins and takes off

After the victory of five different drivers during the first five races of the season, the suspense remained intact on Saturday at Alpe d?Huez to know the name of a possible sixth winner. But Alain Prost, leader of the general classification of Andros Trophy, hoped to place the hood of his Dacia Duster in first position.

“I really like this circuit and I would like to achieve another victory there. It would be the best way to end the first part of the championship and increase my lead in the general classification a little more,” he confided before taking the wheel. “We already know that tire management will be essential in the outcome of this race, because large patches of tar have already appeared on the circuit. »

After a first qualifying round ending in a third time, Alain Prost would benefit from good tire management to get ahead of his rivals in the second round. Best time overall for the two sessions, he won the corresponding 60 points and a pole position in the final. During this peloton race, the four-time World Champion of F1 managed to keep the lead in order to seek victory.

The first driver to win two races this winter, Alain Prost was relieved after a perfect day. “This day was nervously difficult! I had all the cards in hand: a top-notch car and four tires whose wear had been perfectly controlled by the team. It was still necessary to achieve a flawless performance during the four laps of the second qualifying round. I don't think I could have attacked much more! I am happy to impose myself in style. This victory is another very good operation for the Andros Trophy ranking. »

Still the leader, the Dacia driver consolidated his lead in the general classification of the Andros Trophy. He is now 18 points ahead of Jean-Philippe Dayraut, who remains his most serious rival. “It's the dream start to the season, since we have achieved five podiums in six races. At the same time, my opponents have shared the places of honor and this allows me to have a small lead. It?s always good for morale to approach a truce as a leader! »
