Bernhard, Rast and Kristoffersson will compete in the Race of Champions

A little over a week before the Race of Champions (February 2-3) organized in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, the organizers will be able to count on several strong reinforcements in the entry list with two recently confirmed world champions.

Winner in FIA WEC and winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans with Porsche, Timo Bernhard will be at the start and will make his debut in the Race of Champions just like the world champion World RX Johan Kristoffersson.

Titled in DTM last year, Rene Rast will also travel to Saudi Arabia. Mexicans Memo Red, sacred in ELMS, and Abraham Calderon, winner of the Nascar Mexican, but also Swedish Joel Eriksson, resident last year of the FIA ​​European Championship F3, and who will move into DTM this year with BMW, will also be there.

“I am delighted to be competing at the Race of Champions for the first time in Riyadh, comments Kristoffersson. I've been a fan of the event for a long time and I've learned even more about it this year because my teammate Petter Solberg (at VW Sweden PSRX), keeps saying how great it is.

Now I can finally participate. It's an honor to represent Sweden with Joel Eriksson. Of course it will be a big challenge as a beginner, but I used to race with touring cars (STCC champion in 2012), so I hope this experience can help me adapt quickly to different cars. »
