Carlos Sainz: “Very happy”

Carlos Sainz, after the cruel disillusionment of 2009, managed to add the Dakar to his list of achievements. The double world rally champion (1990 and 92) won the rally on his fourth attempt. After ten days as leader, the Spanish driver seems relieved.

« I am very happy, confides Carlos. I have to thank the team, Volkswagen, Lucas (Cruz, his co-driver) of course, everyone who placed their trust in me and who worked hard for me to win this rally. After what happened last year, it's good. »

« This is a very, very important day for meHe says. I won in Europe, in Spain, and I won the Dakar. I am really happy and relieved. There were no problems with the car. There is not a single dent on the bodywork. We had a very fast, but very intelligent Dakar. It was a strong and daily struggle with my teammate (Al-Attiyah, editor’s note). I knew it would be like this. I fought hard. »
