Chicherit: “I’m losing patience”

Guerlain Chicherit, this Sunday, fell from fourth to fifth place in the general classification. However, the BMW driver of the X-Raid team got off to a perfect start, occupying the lead in the standings during the first scores of the eighth stage. But, very quickly, he was betrayed by his car. Electrical problems which led him, at the finish of the stage, to express all his frustration without tongue in cheek. “ I'm starting to lose my patience, comments Guerlain. I've been told for five days that the problem has been resolved, that the fault has been found, and in fact no! »

In the lead at km 48 then km 153, the BMW driver then lost speed and left command of the stage to Stéphane Peterhansel. “ I left on a great pace, confirms the pilot. I was in the lead at the start, I was riding well, without taking any risks. Afterwards, the car started to have big problems and over the last 30 kilometers, in the dunes, it no longer wanted to move forward at all. She cut herself, she stopped. Every time there were big dunes, I had to go around them. It really is frustrating. But we are still here. We are going forward. But I really wanted to win this stage! I was going for it and it doesn't want to do it »
