Chicherit enters the Dakar 2022

The break will have lasted six years, but in 2022, the Dakar will be able to count on the presence of Guerlain Chicherit. The founder of GCK Motorsport will line up alongside navigator Alexandre Winocq, as was the case during certain starts with X-Raid.

“I have never hidden my passion for the Dakar and my desire to return there one day, commented the 43-year-old pilot. Little by little, we have shaped GCK Motorsport to be ready for this challenge and anyone who knows me knows how difficult it has been to be patient and wait for the right moment to come back. »

On the occasion of his 11th adventure on the rally-raid, the former French freeride skier will pilot a new machine, the GCK Thunder. The all-terrain vehicle will be powered by bioethanol, a fuel source approved by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) for the Dakar.

“The development program we have launched within GCK Motorsport and the work we are doing alongside ASO to support reducing the environmental impact of the event makes me super excited to return.

We will obviously be there to grow and progress in 2022 but our first tests make me think that we will have a good card to play. The Dakar is the biggest challenge an athlete and a team can take on, and I'm already looking forward to it! »

Guerlain Chicherit counts as his best performances on the Dakar a fifth place acquired in 2010 in South America as well as three stage victories over three editions (2005, 2010 and 2013). This return of Guerlain Chicherit takes place within the framework of GCK e-Blast H2 project, a hydrogen hybrid vehicle which will be finalized in preparation for the 2023 Dakar.
