Coronavirus – All sporting events in Catalonia behind closed doors

The announcement was made by Quim Torra, president of the Generality of Catalonia, this Wednesday March 11: Catalonia prohibits events with more than 1 participants while all sporting meetings are maintained provided they are behind closed doors.

These measures are being taken to contain the spread of the coronavirus in this region, where 124 cases were declared the day before. These decisions take effect from Thursday March 12, for a renewable period of at least 15 days. This concerns the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, in the town of Montmelo on the outskirts of Barcelona.

While wishing to broadcast a “message of tranquility”, Quim Torra leaves the door open to tougher restrictions in the near future. “It is possible that in the coming days we will have to make more drastic and implacable decisions. »

In the coming weeks, the Spanish track is due to host the Ultimate Cup Series (March 21-22), the opening of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS, April 3-5), of the World Championship of rallycross (World RX, April 18-19) as well as the traditional Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1 (NEVER-NEVER ever).
