Mont-Dore – Chambon-sur-lac: Schatz and Garcès without pity

PRODUCTION CATEGORY

Good news this Sunday, since it was on a dry track and with relatively mild weather that the second day of the meeting was about to begin. From the first climb of the day and 2nd climb of the race for competitors in the Production category, Ronald Garcès (Audi R8 LMS Ultra) dominated his opponents.
In the end, the leader of the Production Championship assumed his status to achieve a 3rd success in a row after those obtained at Marchampt-en-Beaujolais and Dunières. Garcès is ahead of Yannick Poinsignon (BMW M3 E92) and Anthony Dubois (Alpine A110), repeats the last round of the championship.

SPORTS CATEGORY

We knew that this day was going to be difficult in the Sport category, but we were far from imagining the crazy scenario of these 3 rounds of racing. In the first of the day, Geoffrey Schatz (Nova NP01-2 Turbo) was close to Christian Merli's record without beating it. But it then became obvious that the reference mark of the route was in danger of melting...
Surprise in the 3rd climb of the race, since the record was broken... by Damien Chambérod (Norma M20FC E2SC) first, before Geoffrey Schatz came to sign the real new benchmark twice in 2'08''790. If Schatz and Chambérod therefore took the first 2 places in the ranking, we had to wait until the very last climb to know who was going to take the 3rd step of the podium... and it was ultimately Fabien Bourgeon (Revolt 3P0) who stood out.

Next meeting for the residents of the French Mountain Championship: August 14 and 15 in Isère, for the 45th Chamrousse Coast Race.
