Christophe Dechavanne: “Le Mans is a race that I would dream of doing again”

The general public knows the television man. Motorsport enthusiasts know him as a competitor in the 24 hours of Le Mans as well as in Belgium in Supertourism. Completely withdrawn from the circuits, we wanted to check if the smell of burnt gum still gave him as much chills.

Christophe Dechavanne: “Le Mans is a race that I would dream of doing again”

It seems you wanted to be a stuntman?

When I was little, in fact, I didn't want to become a firefighter, actor or doctor, no! I wanted to be a stuntman. I went to see all the shows possible with my father in Normandy, the cars passing through the fire, the jumps or the two-wheelers. It was the great era of films with Rémy Julienne's stunts. In the early 2000s, I remember calling Luc Besson to tell him: “ Please, in the next Taxi, make me drive a box because driving at full speed in the streets of Marseille is a fantasy ". I really dream of being recruited to perform a stunt on a film, arriving with a car in the way, it's great. I've done one car action scene in my life. It was during a TV film for TF1, which was called “ A family matter » in which I play the role of a police officer. However, on one scene, it was not at all planned, I arrived at the handbrake with the body across. I jump out of the car and slam my calf. (Laughter) I had to hide that I was hurt for the rest of that scene.

Show us this Mercedes E55 AMG!

I think it will become a collector's model. I like old ones, as someone else would say, and so you have to take care of them. She's a grandmother from 2005. I never let the slightest problem that could happen to her linger. A little “fart” and presto! She leaves to be repaired. We changed the brakes, the electronic box. It's like new. When I take it for service, the guys at Mercedes are happy because it's one of those that is well preserved, so it's easy to work on.
