Nicolas, what is this station wagon Mercedes anything special?
She ensures that I get from point A to point B during events. That's why I chose this car. It is reliable, does not consume too much, but has a little power. And it’s a comfortable car! I can put all my junk in it left and right. I've had it for five or six years now. On board, I have toured the circuits in Europe countless times. I happened to make the route from Paul-Ricard to Red Bull Call (1100 km. Editor’s note), from Spa-Francorchamps to Silverstone (700 km. Editor’s note), etc. Its odometer shows more than 200 km. It's easy to drive, I enjoy it. I actually have a hard time changing it! I've never had a problem with it, that's the main thing. I call her Roxanne, or Roxy.
A connection with the song by The Police?
Not at all, it was my daughter who chose this nickname. But it has a great stereo music system inside!
Speaking of music, during the 1999 season of Formula 3000, you had Jamiroquai as a sponsor. How did this happen?
I met him quickly at Silverstone. It was one of the team owners, David “Kid” Jensen, a Canadian DJ known in England, who gave us Jamiroquai's album as a sponsor during the second race. This allowed us to finish the season. Jamiroquai is a car enthusiast. Later we met again at Goodwood. It's been a while since I last saw him, but he brought his cars every year. He loves both the Historic and the Modern. He's a racing fanatic, he's very simple and friendly. The flow went very well between us.
You have had a certain relationship with Goodwood for several years…
