Dakar – Team X-Raid’s appeal rejected

The appeal from Team X-Raid requesting a sanction against Stéphane Peterhansel (Peugeot ) winner of the 2016 Dakar has once again been rejected.

The opponents of the Sochaux manufacturer filed a first complaint concerning a disputed refueling during the eighth stage, but the race commissioners rejected the appeal on Tuesday January 12. The same day, Team X-Raid appealed to the FFSA National Court of Appeal which confirmed the commissioners' decision on Wednesday March 2.

It was the German Motorsport Federation (DMSB) which then filed an appeal with the International Court of Appeal on Tuesday March 29. The Court declared the appeal “admissible but unfounded and therefore rejected it”.

Stéphane Peterhansel thus retains his victory and remains the greatest winner of the Dakar with 12 successes (six on motorcycles and six on cars).
