Dakar – Nasser Al-Attiyah’s good start

Nasser Al-Attiyah emerged as first leader of the Dakar 2015 by completing the first 170km special between Buenos Aires and Villa Carlos Paz in 1h12'50, 22 seconds ahead of Orlando Terranova's Mini. If the start of the event is more dedicated to observation, this result helps to give the Qatari confidence. “We got off to a good start. We needed to know where all the drivers fit. Maybe we can attack a little more tomorrow... We didn't take any risks », declared the Team X-Raid pilot on the official website of the Dakar.

The first leader of the 2015 edition is aware that one of his main opponents has already given up since the last winner Nani Roma (Mini) stopped following a mechanical problem, losing all hope of victory. “We saw that Nani was on the side of the road, but they were still in the car. Maybe it was an electrical problem. A stroke of bad luck, that's what it is. I hope he will be able to repair and continue the rally."
