Dakar – Terranova wins, de Villiers comes back

The Auto competitors began the first part of this Saturday the marathon stage between Iquique in Chile and Uyuni in Bolivia. Without support teams, the crews had to find the right balance between attack and preservation of their mounts. It's the Argentinian Orlando Newfoundland who was most comfortable behind the wheel of his Mini to pocket his third stage victory on this 2015 edition, with 2'20 ahead of the Saudi Yazeed Al-Rajhi (Toyota) et 2’28 sur le Hollandais Bernhard Ten Brinke (Toyota). Krzysztof Holowczyc (Mini) ranks 4th at 2'57 ahead of the 2014 winner Nani Rome (Min) at 4'02.

As for the general classification, the South African Giniel de Villiers carried out the good operation of the day at the wheel of his Toyota, regaining almost 3′ from the leader Nasser Al-Attiyah (Mini). The gap between the two drivers stands at 8'14 this evening before the second part of the marathon stage, scheduled for tomorrow.
