Dayraut shifts gears

Jean-Philippe Dayraut, after a somewhat frustrating Friday evening, relaunched with intact motivation this Saturday. Despite a ballast of 40 kg, the Skoda driver was able to rise to the expected level to play for victory.

During the qualifying heats, the Haut-Garonnais showed himself to be the most consistent, completing four laps under a minute. Best time overall in the qualifying heats, he pocketed 60 points, taking five points back. Alain Prost, third.

The Renault Clio III from DA Racing were not left out since Jean-Baptiste Dubourg and the astonishing Romain Grosjean rose to second and fourth position at the end of the qualifying heats. Special mention to the Renault driver F1, a novice in the Trophy, and already ahead of several experienced opponents.

During the first Elite Sup final, Jean-Baptiste Dubourg was able to keep the advantage over the Genevan to win without trembling. The two Clios beat the Skoda Fabia of Olivier Panis, who started fourth and managed to catch up with Lionel Régal. The French mountain champion had to retire shortly after, leaving fourth place to Olivier Pernaut.

In the second Elite Sup final, the argument between Jean-Philippe Dayraut and Alain Prost came to an end. Despite the Dacia driver's good start, the defending champion was able to maintain his first position before widening the gap to win without difficulty. On the contrary, Alain Prost had to fight throughout the race with Franck Lagorce to protect his second place.

Results of this second day at Alpe d?Huez: Jean-Philippe Dayraut, despite his ballast, takes six points from Alain Prost (5 in qualifying, 1 in the race) and increases his lead to twelve points at the head of the Andros Trophy. At the end of this first phase of the competition on ice, the defending champion took a significant advantage. However, there are four meetings remaining in 2010 to determine the winner of this 2009/10 Trophy.
