The third stage of the Silk Way Rally which was to be contested between Elista and Astrakhan could not be completed due to heavy precipitation which made the day's route too difficult to cross. The organizers put an end to the special as soon as they passed the first “checkpoint”.
It is nevertheless Harry Hunt (Peugeot 3008DKR Maxi) who benefited the most since the PH Sport team driver found himself in control of the general classification with a lead of more than 18 minutes over Yazeed Al-Rajhi (Mini JCW Rally). Nasser Al-Attiyah fell to third place 55 minutes behind the new Silk Way Rally leader, while Mathieu Serradori (MCM Original) and Denis Krotov completed the Top 5 more than an hour behind.
