Isidre Esteve switches to Toyota Hilux for the 2021 Dakar
The Catalan Isidre Esteve will compete in the Dakar for the first time with a top-class 4×4. With the help of Toyota Spain, the former biker, who became paraplegic after a fall during Rally from Almeria in 2007, switches to a Hilux from the Belgian structure Overdrive with his co-driver Txema Villalobos for the 2021 edition (January 3-15).

My dream of taking part in the Dakar with the best possible car will come true, rejoices the 48-year-old Spaniard. Since I started my career on four wheels (in 2009), I told myself that it would be impossible to drive a car like the Hilux… but this day has come!
The Toyota is sensational; easy to drive and with plenty of torque with its V8 engine. It is very maneuverable in any type of terrain thanks to its power from low revs. We are going to move faster than ever with his very predictable behavior.”
Isidre Esteve will compete in the Andalusia Rally, replacing the Morocco Rally, from October 6 to 10, to prepare for the Dakar.
