AFOR unveils the new calendar for the French Championship

The return to competition of rallycross national is still awaited. Without a race since October 2019, the Championship and the Coupe de France suffered another hard blow this Tuesday with the confirmation of yet another postponement.

Unable to accommodate the public, the opening round of the season will not take place at Essay-Les-Ducs from May 21 to 23 as planned. As a result, the 2021 French Rallycross Championship and Cup will begin in Châteauroux from June 4 to 6.

Here again the public will not be there but the organizers have not opposed a closed-door event for the start of the 2021 campaign.

The public could, however, return from the second round of the season at Faleyras (June 18 to 20). AFOR and the organizers of the Gironde meeting are evaluating the possibilities of running in front of spectators. Everything will depend on the measures taken by the government during this time of health crisis. The capacity of 5.000 people authorized on this date according to the State's deconfinement plan nevertheless leaves room for hope.

Initially the scene of the resumption, Essay-Les-Ducs is rescheduled for the weekend of August 20 to 22 in accordance with the request of the organizers of the meeting.

Streaming is coming!

The return to competition next June at Châteauroux will also be an opportunity for the French Association of Rallycross Organizers to launch its new race broadcasting system.

Indeed, from 2021 all meetings will be available in live streaming via the AFOR platform. Thus, spectators will have the opportunity to follow the events on different connected devices.

Although paid, AFOR live streaming will offer full coverage of qualifying and races in all disciplines of the Championship and Coupe de France. A first for French rallycross! This will make it possible to compensate for the great efforts of the Association, but also of the organizers of the rounds since all the money collected will be redistributed to the latter, and to the spectators to contribute to the sustainability of the discipline.

AFOR will also offer a live broadcast from the paddock on Saturday evening. This will be broadcast on various social networks free of charge.
