Dakar checks have started

It?s time for reunions, more or less eventful travel stories, speculation on racing scenarios. The “checks” of the Dakar, this large preliminary gathering, always take place in a relaxed atmosphere, with a sufficient degree of concentration to be able to plan ahead for the 14 days of racing, the 9000 kilometers of roads, tracks and dunes that await. the competitors. The competitors who discovered America last year mainly reconnected with Buenos Aires. Many went to collect their vehicles at Delta Dock, the disembarkation port located about a hundred kilometers from the Argentine capital. They then headed towards the La Rural exhibition center, which, as in 2009, hosts the technical and administrative checks? and in a little over two weeks the arrival podium ceremony in which everyone hopes to participate.

The “checks” being scheduled over three days, the American competitors from the North and South were the first called. American biker Jonah Street, stage winner last year on the rally, wins the prize for thoughtlessness, for having forgotten his driving license in a hotel located at the other end of the city. For this time, the navigation error has no consequences?

In total, around a hundred vehicles were allowed to enter the parc ferme, from which they will leave to go to the first stage on Friday. If this half-day spent at La Rural will have allowed us to meet the entire BMW X-Raid team for a press conference, the tenors of the discipline will be represented during the days of Wednesday and Thursday. Starting tomorrow, podium candidates like Robby Gordon are expected on the verification circuit.
