Limonest, epilogue of the Mountain

It is to the north of Lyon, between Limonest and Mont Verdun, that the final climbs of the 2009 version of the French Mountain Championship will be contested. Titled since the Chamrousse event (August 22-23), Lionel Régal proved that? he has lost none of his motivation, as he did last weekend by winning the Turckheim round. But it is for the conquest of places on the podium that the fight will be fiercest. “I have won nine races this season, I would like to win the tenth,” declared Lionel Régal after the Turckheim climbs.

Currently, Cyrille Frantz, second, is ahead of Nicolas Schatz and Sébastien Petit by a handful of points. The latter, silent in Turckheim due to a recalcitrant engine, will have to make up for the points lost in Alsace in the Rhône, if his car allows him. As for Cyrille Frantz, he could be helped in his quest to maintain his second place by Lionel Régal. If the Reynard driver wins, he will indirectly protect Frantz's second place. The latter, with a lighter car, should in any case show his advantage.
