Perfect weekend for Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel (Toyota). The Qatari-French duo recorded a second stage victory in as many days of racing on the Rally of Morocco 2019.
The Sunday stage took the form of a loop around Aoufous, over 386 kilometers of timed portion. Already in great shape the day before, the crew of the 4×4 Hilux hit the nail on the head. The closest pursuers, Stéphane and Andrea Peterhansel (Mini), are 12’32” behind!
Behind, we find two experienced big names, namely Giniel de Villiers (Toyota, +13’55’’) and Carlos Sainz (Mini, +15’54’’). The Spaniard from the X-Raid team is relaunching after experiencing several punctures the day before.
Also victims of two punctures and a broken rim on Saturday, Fernando Alonso and Marc Coma (Toyota) were very discreet. The rally-raid rookie, accompanied by the former biker, suffered a time of 24’24” (9th in the provisional ranking) after 267 kilometers
