Morocco – Al-Attiyah continues a flawless performance, Alonso trapped

The great series continues. Already winners of the first two stages of the Rally from Morocco 2019, Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel (Toyota) enfoncent le clou en décrochant à l’arraché une troisième victoire de rang.

This performance was acquired at the very end of the course, Monday October 7, around Aoufous. 363 km long, the stage saw the winning duo coming out of the Dakar overcome the Spaniards at the last minute Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz (Mini). In the lead after two thirds of the stage, the representatives of the X-Raid team were damned for only 26 seconds!

A impressive regularity, Giniel de Villiers, accompanied by Alex Haro (Toyota), set the third time (+4'07'') and continues to follow his Toyota Gazoo Racing teammate from afar at the top of the general classification.

Scrutinized, the beginnings of Fernando Alonso in rally-raid (associated with Marc Coma on Toyota) are a succession of adventures. After Saturday's punctures, place in the Monday rut. The double world champion Formula 1 damaged its front deck and turned towards the bivouac without finishing the course.

Day 3 of @rallyedumaroc. Not the day we wanted. After 75km a big ditch not written in the road book, damage 3 cars of the first 10 today included ours, then they closed that part of the road momentarily, luckily not more cars went thru there. Now we will try to repair and hopefully tomorrow have a clean day __________________________________ Day 3 of @rallyedumaroc. No, this is the day we hope for. A los 75 km de la stage hemos pasado por una gran zanja no señalada en el Road book, dañando junto al 3 coches de los 10 primeros la suspension, después, afortunadamente fue cerrada in this area to avoid more problems to the people that llegaba por detrás. We intend to repair and repair on a daily basis #toyotagazooracing #toyota #morocco

“After 75 km, a big rut was not written in the road book, and damaged three of the first 10 cars at the start today, including ours (and that of Benrhard ten Brinke. Editor’s note), explains the Spaniard. Then, the organizers closed the passage temporarily. Fortunately, there were no other cars there. »

Martin Prokop (Ford) also did not complete the stage. The Pole was the victim of a major accident with his 4x4 and will probably have to retire.
