G-Drive Racing is the most energetic team in qualifying this season in European Le Mans Series with a third pole won this Saturday, in four rounds.
Only 18 years old, Franco Colapinto topped the proceedings by setting the best lap in 1:37.469 at the wheel of the No. 01 Aurus 26. The Argentinian, who participated in his first qualification in ELMS, relegated the rest of the field to more than 4 tenths, including the No. 07 Oreca 22 (United Autosports). The second row of the starting grid will be shared by Team WRT, third (+0,533s), and DragonSpeed USA, fourth (+0,589s). The crew of the #21 DragonSpeed USA Oreca also scores 1 point for the best time among the LMP2 Pro/Ams. Only four tenths separate the second LMP2 from the tenth.
In the LMP3 category, DKR Engineering continues with a third consecutive pole position thanks to Laurents Hörr. The driver of the No. 08 Duqueine D4 clocked 1:43.127, only 53 thousandths ahead of the young Belgian from Inter Europol Competition, Ugo de Wilde (1:43.219). Great performance from Garett Grist who completes the leading trio, 92 thousandths behind the benchmark for the #320 Ligier JS P20 of Team Virage.
In LMGTE, it was Alessandro Pier Guidi who took pole on the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo n°55 of Spirit of Race, just ahead of his compatriot Alessio Rovera in the Ferrari n°88 of AF Corse (+ 0,051 s).
The start of the 4 Hours of Monza will be given this Sunday at 11 a.m.
