Thunderstorms and remontada: the facts of Sunday at the Historic Tour of Dijon

We announced it to you in the preamble to the event, the appearance of the general rankings would change profoundly for this second meeting of the 2020 season. If there were 11 men tied for leaders on the evening of the Albi meeting in July , there are only 5 left in first place.

This quintet hit hard, winning not one, but two races over the weekend! This is Laurent Sabatier (Porsche 993 GT2 in GT Classic), Frédéric Rouvier (March in F3 Classic), Christian Vaglio Giors (Formula Renault Classic), Geoffroy Horion (Formula Ford Kent) and Franck Quagliozzi (Honda Civic in Youngtimers GTI Cup).

Other races did not lack spice. In the SportProtosCup, an unexpected clash between leader Jean-Baptiste Châteaux and Louis Kolly gave Dominique Vulliez's Merlin MP46 a success on the board.

Major storms marred the morning races. On several occasions, the marshals waved the red flag while the Safety Car recorded a mileage record.

These tricky conditions did not prevent the oldest of the peloton, Jean Mercier (83 spring!) from reaching the finish of the Formula Ford Historic France Challenge aboard his small Renault-powered Gran MT6 from Formula France.

As for the F3 Classic, it’s impossible to miss Manfredo’s comeback Red di Montelera. If this name doesn't mean anything to you, don't panic, you will discover everything about this descendant of a legendary Italian team in issue 2774 of AUTOhebdo, available Monday evening digitally and Wednesday on newsstands.

The transalpine driver, who started from 26th place due to a mechanical problem the day before, put down best lap after best lap to climb to the last step of the podium. Success went to Frédéric Rouvier, who however made up for it with the return of Valerio Leone. The latter was however the author of a magnificent spin on the fourth lap!
