Pierre Courroye and Geoffrey Schatz open the French Mountain Championship season

The French Mountain Championship begins its 2020 season in the most beautiful way by heading to the legendary Mont-Dore slope (Puy-de-Dôme). This Saturday, August 8, the 60th edition of the hill climb awarded its first winners.

The premier class, the Sport, was dominated by the Norma and Nova prototypes. Defending champion Geoffrey Schatz got hot, not only because of the heatwave, but because he went off the road during his second climb.

However, the Burgundian won the victory thanks to his first run with his Norma M20 FC. Sébastien Petit (Nova NP01) and Fabien Bourgeon (Revolt 3P0) fail by less than a second! The gap widens considerably for the places of honor. David Meillon, fourth on his Norma CN, is relegated to 10 seconds.

In the Production category, Pierre Courroye (McLaren) launched his campaign perfectly. The Franc-Comtois, titled in 2017, won by two seconds ahead of two vehicles in the GTTS class, the Audi R8 LMS of Ronald Garcès and the Renault RS01 by Philippe Schmitter.

The second round of the weekend will be held during the day of Sunday August 9, still at Mont-Dore.
