Pikes Peak – Beltoise, the other winner of the 92nd edition

Romain Dumas' eponymous team achieved a perfect result in the 92nd edition of Pikes Peak. To Romain Dumas' victory was added that of Vincent Beltoise in Time Attack 1 where he almost crossed the symbolic 10-minute mark to complete the 19,9km climb (10'00"744). “How can you not be satisfied after such a week! ", s’enthousiasme le pilote Racing Technology vu en Porsche Carrera Cup France. “From the start, everything went well and the victory is a superb conclusion. My objective was to do things well, I had not set myself a particular position. I tried to ride clean, not to make any mistakes while maintaining a high pace. With the heat and a red flag just before my passage, I was not in ideal conditions, but I knew that this race would have a certain number of unforeseen events. It was complicated, but the confidence built up during the tests was still there. I felt good in the last portion and I attacked. Winning for my first here, with Romain's team, is fantastic. It's an incredible experience, both on a purely sporting level, where I learned a lot, and on a human level, with many good moments with the team. I didn't come far from breaking 10 minutes, but I couldn't have asked for a better start here. »

Vincent Beltoise's performance is all the more satisfactory as the Frenchman won by only 1”173 over the Porsche of Jeff Zwart, a veteran of the Colorado event. “Vincent put in a great performance”, assures team boss Romain Dumas. “This race is very difficult to discover and understand. Vincent?s approach was perfect: he did it intelligently, without putting pressure on himself and he took the steps one by one naturally to end up winning today. Bravo to him because his main rival is a serious competitor, well versed in the specificities of Pikes Peak. Vincent showed all his qualities: his speed, his ability to adapt, his seriousness... For the team, it's the icing on the cake! A private French team, with two drivers from Alès, which wins two victories at Pikes Peak, is a great accomplishment. Now we are ready for new adventures! »
