Pikes Peak – Dumas breaks his engine during testing

If Romain Dumas kept the best time in the lower section at Pikes Peak, and consequently his pole in the American event, the double winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans saw his preparation disrupted by a breakdown of his 2.0l turbo engine during the last test session carried out this Friday June 24 on the upper part while he was making his first attempt.

“An engine failure during testing is obviously not the ideal situation, but we have to deal with it., comments the Alésien. It is all the more of a handicap as the final portion is particular, with its blind curves, the precipice that we come across several times, and the numerous bumps. »

“We are going to go a little into the unknown, avoue le pilote officiel Porsche. It's a shame because we had gradually improved the car on different types of courses, fast at the bottom, slower in the middle. We also showed an interesting level of performance, but we know that electric prototypes are competitive, particularly with their significant power. »

“Rhys Millen (electric prototype e0 pp100) is the logical favorite to succeed him, but I'm not the type to give up. We will fight with our weapons and our beliefs. Pikes Peak is not easy to conquer. We know it. It’s Sunday that everything will be decided and I know that I can count on the motivation and involvement of my team”, underlines the driver of the Norma M20 RD Limited.
