Pikes Peak – Dumas realizes a new dream with Norma

“I’m just happy”, declared Romain Dumas upon arrival. “It's difficult to put into words this adventure which began three years ago. The emotion is really strong! With the whole team, we have been through so much, we have put in so much effort... It's just great to make it happen with this victory. I think we can talk about deliverance because in the back of my mind there was the disappointment of 2012. It was a dream to win here, it is coming true and doing it with my own team is obviously very special. I have to thank all these guys who gave their all, who did an incredible job. We tried to prepare as best we could, and we have never been so prepared. I am proud of what we have done together. »

This success is all the more gratifying since Mitsubishi surprised by lining up particularly competitive Evo IIIs, whose electrical energy provided no defects at high altitudes. Thus, Greg Tracy only lost 2”387 behind while Hiroshi Masuoka completed the podium 6”403 behind. “I am very happy to share this victory with Norma and Norbert Santos, who is so passionate. This challenge started after a meeting in a gas station and since then we only had one thing in mind: to win! With Norbert, his colleagues and my team, we worked hard to achieve this result. The task was not easy, but we succeeded. It was very difficult, especially at the end of the course. We had to fight on a very dirty, dusty road, and with a high temperature which did not benefit us. It's not necessarily my nicest run here and the time we were hoping for, but it's the place we wanted and that suits me completely. »
