Pikes Peak – The Norma MXX on its way to the United States

Not content with having already won twice the “race to the clouds” of Pikes Peak (Colorado), Romain Dumas has the firm intention of beating Sébastien's record Loeb signed in 2013 in 8'13''878, 37 seconds faster than his personal best. To do this, the engineers of RD limited and Standard were based on the hull of the victorious M20 in 2016 in order to drastically improve it.

« We tried to improve everything, explains Romain Dumas. After last year's race we put together a long list with Norbert Santos (Norma's boss. Ed.), then we worked on each of these points, one after the other. »

The aero improvement choices are the most important and the most impressive, including a 2m10 rear wing and aggressive lines.

« The car is a little heavier, but it's its bodybuilder side that wants that: it's wider, longer, more... everything for it! It was necessary to be faster. It is more effective, there is no doubt. It is more efficient but also easier to pilot."

Before facing the Pikes Peak hill and aiming for a third victory on June 25, the Norma RXX RD Limited will carry out a test session in Colorado between the Le Mans test day and the 24 Hours week.
