Prost: “The Trophy keeps its promises”

Alain Prost, arrived in Andorra four points behind Jean-Philippe Dayraut, had to deal with his ballast at the start of the weekend. The “Professor”, having lost six more points on Saturday, was focused on catching up on Sunday, in the second race. Something that the Dacia driver was able to do thanks to a daring strategy during the qualifying heats.

Twelfth fastest in the first round, the Dacia driver was especially careful not to damage his tires in order to go all out during the second qualifying round. “ There wasn't much grip during this first round and I tried to break in my two new tires well., confides Alain Prost. I think we made the right tactical choice, because I had four tires that would be at their peak performance in the second race. »

In accordance with his predictions, Alain Prost was able to take advantage of this strategy to set the best lap times and place himself in the lead in the cumulative qualifying heats. Thanks to this daring bet, the four-time world champion was able to regain eight of his ten points behind Jean-Philippe Dayraut, before maintaining this gap by finishing in second place in the second Elite Sup final, behind Bertrand Balas.

« Regaining eight of the ten points separating me from Jean-Philippe Dayraut is a very good operation for the championship, despite my 40 kg handicap ballast., confides the Dacia driver. After two meetings, the Andros Trophy 2010 keeps all its promises with a very good fight in which Dacia plays its role. Next week, we will take on board 60 kg of ballast again. Until then, the Duster will receive new developments and I hope that we will still be able to play for victory. »
