Bakkerud big winner in Trois-Rivières

Andreas Bakkerud (Audi S1) scored his first victory in World RX since Rosario (Argentina) in 2016, the 7th of his career, by winning the final in Trois-Rivières (Quebec). The Monster Energy RX Cartel rider secured the first row by winning his semi-final ahead of the Renault Mégane RS RX GCK by Guerlain Chicherit and Anton Marklund. The 27-year-old Norwegian took the advantage at the first corner against Janis Baumanis (Ford Fiesta) and was thus able to avoid pitfalls in the peloton.

The championship leader then spun and had to settle for 5th place behind the Frenchman.

Kevin Hansen remains in control of the championship but Andreas Bakkerud has returned to 7 points, while Timmy Hansen has slipped to 3rd place, 16 points behind his younger brother after failing to reach the semi-finals. The Swede was the victim of contact damaging his 208 WRX during Q4.

Cyril Raymond (Renault Clio RS) had his chances of competing in the final, but the Frenchman suffered an engine failure and finished last in his semi-final.
