World RX has confirmed the introduction of a new racing format for 2022, the year the electric era begins.

The year 2022 will mark the big debut of electric Supercars in the world championship of Rallycross. After seven years of good and loyal service, the thermal Supercars will give way to the new generation set to make the glory days of World RX in the coming seasons.

Starting next year, each race weekend will begin with a “SuperPole” immediately after free practice, replacing the traditional draw to choose your position for Q1. Each driver will then set off for a timed lap from a standing start. The competitors will then be classified according to their time with the “Heat One” pole position (equivalent to Q1) for the fastest and so on. Events with only one round will have three heats while double-headers will only have two.

Concerning the following "heats", the positions on the grid will be defined by the result of the previous ones, thus giving more importance to the qualifying heats. The final ranking of the heats will be established according to the total race time.

All drivers will then participate in the “Progression Race” in which the highest ranked driver in the heats will have the right to choose their position on the grid followed by the 2nd and so on. The 10 best will qualify for the semi-finals where the Top 5 (the first two of each and the best 3rd) will qualify for the final.

Each race will be contested between 5 drivers maximum with a single file start for 5 laps. Points will be credited at the end of the race weekend according to the following scale: 20-16-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 with 20 points for the first and 1 for the 15th.
