Grönholm wins on the green carpet at Hell

Anton Marklund was disqualified at Hell following a technical infraction. Niclas Grönholm takes his first World RX victory on the green carpet.

GC Kompetition will still have to wait to celebrate its first victory in World RX. An infringement of the technical regulations was noted on the Renault Mégane RS of Anton Marklund who won the final this Sunday in Hell (Norway).

Stewards said the front bumper did not conform to the original model on the car's technical sheet. The thickness of the support for this element must not have a diameter greater than 1,5mm. However, that of the Swede's Renault Mégane RS was measured at 1,96mm. The blow is hard for Anton Marklund who scores no points in this round.

Conversely, Niclas Grönholm won his first victory in World RX while his father Marcus Grönholm's team, GRX Taneco, celebrated its second success after that of Timur Timerzyanov signed in Spa (Belgium) last month. The Finn thus moves up to 5th place in the championship, 29 points behind leader Timmy Hansen (Peugeot ) while GRX is now 18 units behind Team Hansen-MJP. Only one point now separates the Hansen brothers.
