Grosset-Janin betrayed by mechanics at Lydden Hill

Jérôme Grosset-Janin had the potential to do well. At Lydden Hill (Great Britain) where the second round of the TitansRX took place last weekend, the Frenchman was the victim of turbo problems in Q3 and in the semi-final of the first race. The next day, a water temperature alert that was too high forced him to throw in the towel.

“It’s true that I didn’t have too much luck, confided the former French champion to AUTOweekly. It's all the more a shame as I had a very promising pace and I won my race in Q1 (5th time in the general classification). I had good memories of this legendary circuit where I drove twice since I took second place in the European Championship here in 2014. It's really a beautiful track. »

When he did not have mechanical problems, Jérôme Grosset-Janin had to deal with changing conditions with a wet or drying track.

“We had to constantly juggle between slick tires and wet tires. The Hoosiers are a little harder than the Coopers used in World RX and they take a little longer to heat up. We therefore had to be careful when revving in the first laps”, he explained.

Despite his missed weekend, Jérôme Grosset-Janin still occupies 5th place in the championship, but the Hansen brothers and Toomas Heikkinen have already taken a good lead.

“I don’t focus on that. My priority is to obtain good resultshe recalled. Toomas Heikkinen was involved in the development of the Pantera RX6 and the Hansen brothers also took part in pre-season testing. They have a lot more roll than most competitors. But the formula works well. We've seen wildcards be fast. The intelligence of the discipline (with a unique car model) allows the rookies to shine. »

Jérôme Grosset-Janin will soon have the opportunity to move forward since the next round of the TitansRX will take place in less than two weeks in Montalegre (Portugal).

“The fast corners worry me more than the slow sector because that will be where positions will be contested and there are likely to be a lot of fights. I've only driven there once so far.", he added.
