During the Goodwood Festival of Speed (Great Britain) last weekend, Ken Block was invited to compete in the climb at the wheel of the Ford Focus RX with which he is competing in his first full season in World RX.
The American took the opportunity to express his enthusiasm about the future of Rallycross which according to him has better potential compared to other already established disciplines.
“The FIA and motorsport are in a good position at the moment. Exposure on social media is really starting to influence the way young people see things. We have so much information at our fingertips that it makes the role of each sport quite different., commented the Hoonigan Racing driver.
“It's fantastic to see that Rallycross is so successful because it fits exactly with the mentality of having a bunch of content rather than having, for example, a three-hour race which seems like an eternity to young people. Rallycross perfectly meets these expectations, those of the media and their consumption”, added the Gymkhana star.
“I'm really keen to be involved in this and it's a great thing that the FIA is as well. I hope that it will continue to grow and that we will one day see it compete with disciplines such as F1 in terms of interest. I really think it has the potential. I'm a big fan of F1, but I come from the world of rally and rallycross, and I would like to see this discipline evolve to the position of rallying, and maybe even F1”, underlined Ken Block.
