Kristoffersson will defend his crown in 2021

Silent as the announcements came one after the other in his last weeks with Timmy et Kevin Hansen or Niclas Grönholm, Johan Kristoffersson has finally made a decision about his future in World RX: he will put his title won last year back on the line.

« First of all, I am very happy to be able to compete in the full World RX season and doing it with a new team is a new challenge for me., rejoices the Swede who will represent EKS JC, the structure of Mattias Ekström, on the track.

The objective when you arrive as reigning champion is logically to win the championship again but this is not an easy task. I have already experienced this situation twice (of these coronations in 2017 and 2018. Editor’s note) and we will do what is necessary to fight for the crown this year ».

Loyal to Volkswagen and its Polo since his first laps in World RX, Johan Kristoffersson will discover a new vehicle in 2021: the AudiS1 EKS RX quattro. The Belgian Enzo Ide will be his teammate within EKS JC.

« If you can't beat him, ally with him! It's that simple, quips Mattias Ekström, three times vice-world champion behind his new driver. I had some great battles with Johan and I think everyone agrees that he has a unique driving style. It fits perfectly with EKS JC for this 2021 season and thus fight for the drivers and teams championship ».
