Kristoffersson first winner at Silverstone

Johan Kristoffersson became the first winner of the World RX meeting at Silverstone, signing his third success of the season by winning the final ahead of Andreas Bakkerud and Sébastien Loeb.

Kristoffersson first winner at Silverstone

Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen) claimed his third victory in four rounds by winning the final of the first World RX meeting at Silverstone (Great Britain). The PSRX Volkswagen Sweden resident gained momentum by winning the last two qualifying heats to take pole in his semi-final which he won.

The reigning world champion also benefited from the best position for the last race and managed to maintain the advantage despite pressure from Andreas Bakkerud (Audi).

After winning his semi-final, Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot ) completed the podium after having had to attack to catch up once he missed his takeoff. The nine-time champion of WRC was able to take over Niclas Grönholm (Hyundai) and Kevin Hansen (Peugeot) before taking advantage of a missed joker lap from Mattias Ekström (Audi) who failed at the foot of the podium in front of the i20 RX.

 

 

Jérôme Grosset-Janin (Renault) almost won his first victory by finishing fourth in his semi-final, while Timmy Hansen (Peugeot) saw his weekend end at the same time by finishing last. Petter Solberg (Volkswagen) retired in the semi-final after hitting his teammate.

Johan Kristoffersson now has a 14-point lead over Sébastien Loeb, while Andreas Bakkerud completes the top three in the Drivers' standings with 22 points behind. In the Teams, PSRX Volkswagen Sweden maintains the lead with 22 points ahead of EKS Audi Sport which takes second place from Peugeot by one point.

 

 

In RX2, it was Oliver Eriksson who won ahead of Conner Martell and Sondre Evjen. Guillaume de Ridder was well on his way to winning his semi-final before abandoning with a mechanical problem.

 

 

Volkswagen also shone at the first Americas meeting Rallycross by signing a double with Tanner Foust winning ahead of Scott Speed. Liam Doran completed the podium in his DS 3 RX. Timo Scheider (Seat) retired after a violent exit from the track.
