Americas Rallycross bows out

Le Rallycross struggling to arouse enough interest in the USA. After only two years of existence, the Americas Rallycross ceased to exist even though the promoter IMG had invested heavily in parallel with World RX.

“After consultation with shareholders and stakeholders, IMG has made the difficult decision not to continue Americas Rallycross beyond the 2019 season”, the organization said in a press release.

Despite the arrival of the world championship in Austin (Texas) last year, the ARX did not attract enough participants and suffered from relatively poor fields. Volkswagen and Andretti will remain the only champion team in the American series with Scott Speed in 2018 and Tanner Foust the following year. The withdrawal of the VW Beetle would have left the Subaru Impreza alone on the platforms.

The Global Rallycross Championship previously tried to break through Rallycross in the USA by evolving from 2011 to 2017. Max Pucher, the founder of TitansRX, was behind the project.
