FIA names supplier for electric World RX

The Austrian company Keisel was chosen to supply the battery system for 4 seasons in World RX, from 2021 to 2024. The decision was taken during the FIA World Council which was held this Friday in Cologne (Germany). As previously indicated, teams will have the choice of creating cars around the electrical system or installing a kit on current thermal Supercars.

The common kit will produce a power of 500kW or 680hp distributed over the two axles with one motor on each axis. It will be sold at a price of €300 to which will be added a check for €000 for the maintenance of the system for 100 years. The FIA specifies that this price is lower than the cost of thermal engines.

The first prototype will be presented next March. The electrical kit will be available for sale from April 17, 2020.

The FIA World Council also approved the arrival of Spanish company QEV Technologies to lead the Junior eRX which will also be launched in 2021 and is expected to take the place of the RX2. The structure which notably worked with Mahindra in Formula e will develop 4-wheel drive tubular chassis which will be powered by 32kWh batteries developing 250kW, or half the power of the World RX electric cars.

The series which will host 20 cars will take place in 6 European events. Young drivers will have to pay around €150 for a season, or €000 per event.
