Laboulle and Peu stand out

At the wheel of his Citroën Xsara WRC, Marc Laboulle immediately showed himself at ease on the Castelroussin route. He thus took on the best chonos in the qualifying practices and took pole position at the end of the second qualifying round. Under difficult conditions, however, it was Philippe Tollemer (Citroën Xsara WRC) who got off to the best start on his return to competition. But Jérôme Grosset-Janin (Citroën C4 WRC) stole first place from the second corner and Marc Laboulle took the opportunity to move up to second place. It was only three laps later that Laboulle took advantage of a small error from Grosset-Janin to take command. The championship leader then broke away irreparably, allowing himself the luxury of slowing down just at the end. He won his third success in four races and now has a 17-point lead over David Meslier, only fourth in the event.

In Division 1A, Samuel Peu did not leave much to his opponents. Best time in the second round and the third round, he once again started from pole position. The start, however, saw David Deslandes (Citroën Saxo Super 1600) take the lead at the first corner after starting from the third row. But in the hairpin that followed, Deslandes went wide and Peu took the opportunity to take the lead which he never left until the end. With now four victories, Peu is 19 points ahead of Deslandes, second in the race, on Sunday.
