Rallycross goes global in 2014

Timur Timerzyanov, recently titled for the second time in a row in European Rallycross Championship, will he aim for a first world title? The FIA ​​World Council has in any case confirmed the creation of a World Rallycross Championship from 2014, provided that the season comprises 11 or 12 events, with nine or ten European rounds, as well as an event in Asia or Africa and another on the American continent.

The formats of the European Rallycross Championship will be retained for the other categories, TouringCar and S1600, will be retained in the calendar of European events counting towards the World Championship. The SuperCar format will be adapted and focused on five of the ten European events in the World Championship. A specific classification will also be put in place for drivers who will not compete in the entire Championship.
