Hyundais suffered at Silverstone

If GRX Taneco won victory earlier this month at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) with Timur Timerzyanov, Marcus Grönholm's team struggled more at Silverstone (Great Britain).

The Russian failed in 5th place in the semi-final after having qualified with difficulty at the end of the qualifying heats.

“I focused on my race, but the result was not decided only by me, explained the former European champion. The next event at Hell in Norway is one of my favorite tracks on the calendar and I'm going to focus on that now. »

The disappointment was even more palpable for the second Hyundai. Niclas Grönholm still recovering from his appendicitis, it was the promising Joni Wiman who took over the wheel of the i20. Alas, the Finn ended his weekend on the roof after rolling over.

“I was called late to replace Niclas and I tried to do my best, but I struggled to find the right settings on this track, admitted Niclas Grönholm’s replacement. It was already satisfying to be first in line for the semi-final, but the race got a little crazy. Baumanis (Ford Fiesta) and Doran (Audi S1) were fighting and I tried to overtake them after the jump. Unfortunately, I hit the wall of tires and rolled over. »

GRX Taneco retains second place in the Teams ranking with 11 points ahead of Monster Energy RX Cartel, Timur Timerzyanov has fallen to 5th place while Niclas Grönholm sees his title hopes seriously complicated after his second missed meeting.
