Loeb: fights sometimes go too far

Before taking the start of the 2017 Dakar at the wheel of his Peugeot 3008 DKR, Sébastien Loeb looked back on his first season of World RX. The nine-time champion of WRC distinguished himself by finishing in 5th place in the Championship with 31 points ahead of his teammate Timmy Hansen, vice-champion in 2015.

“I like the championship, recognized Sébastien Loeb. The discipline is interesting, the cars are nice, the sensations at driver level are great. The battles are intense, as are the weekends. With up to six starts per meeting, there is a lot of stress and adrenaline. »

Sébastien Loeb simply regretted the sometimes too strong commitment of certain competitors which could ruin the result of a meeting, while the Alsatian was facing himself when he was racing in the special stages of rally or the stages of the Dakar.

“You have to fight at every moment, total commitment and not give up... It's sometimes too much and this is perhaps the only slightly negative point. A race can stop after a few meters without necessarily being at fault, simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm not a fan of skirmishes or rash attacks. But I know that's part of the deal.", he added.

Sébastien Loeb has in any case retained all his motivation for the next season where he will continue to defend the colors of Team Peugeot-Hansen.

“Next year, we will have to take a step forward. There are already things planned and we are working to be more competitive, concerning myself, but also on the car. Fifth for a first year is OK, but I want to play higher. I didn't know where I was before kick-off so there wasn't a specific goal to achieve. Getting a victory was satisfying, but I would have wanted more. I would have preferred to do better and my ambition is precisely to do better in 2017”, warned the Alsatian.
