Marcus Grönholm returns to rallycross through the Projekt E door

Marcus Grönholm has the competition bug itching. At 52, the Finn will once again take his helmet during the World Championship round of rallycross (World RX) at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium, November 21-22).

The double world rally champion (WRC) with Peugeot in 2000 and 2002 will drive the team's electric Ford Fiesta for the first time Ferratum en Project E. Yes, the great Nordic is converting to electric!

“I completed three laps at Kouvola (Finland) with the car, specifies the main team of the GRX training, the one which shelters his son Niclas Grönholm. I haven't been the biggest fan of this technology to be honest, but when I slipped behind the wheel, the excitement of driving returned. The behavior of the car is very positive and very impressive. »

Officially retired in 2012 after an accident at the X Games in Los Angeles (California) in Rallycross, Marcus Grönholm now rides for pleasure: let's note a Toyota Yaris WRC outing in Sweden en février 2018 et une course en Hyundai i20 WRX en RallyX Nordic en juillet dernier.

“I said at home I wouldn't compete anymore, but in Belgium I wouldn't get involved in any big fights, and it's definitely not a comeback, he says.

I want to get involved in electrics, because the discipline is going in that direction anyway. » Also a good way to appreciate the future technology used in World RX for this team boss.
