Who to succeed Kristofferson at Höljes?

The world championship of rallycross is back in Sweden this weekend. Special stage in this season, 25 cars are entered. An impressive number, which can be explained by the presence of numerous wildcards. Among them, Kevin Eriksson, winner in Germany in 2016. Local to the stage, he is accompanied by Sebastien Eriksson in a Ford Fiesta. Present in French Rallycross, Fabien and Jonathan Pailler, will also be on the grids in their Peugeot 208.

An update on the championship

Access to the final is therefore likely to be more contested than ever. Especially since 4 different drivers won in the first 5 rounds. With Kevin Hansen (winner in Abu Dhabi), Timur Timerzyanov (first in Belgium) and Niclas Grönholm (who won the last event, in Norway), Timmy Hansen is the only driver to have won twice this season (Spain and England).

Separated by one point in the championship (107 to 106, to Timmy's advantage), the two Swedes will play at home this weekend. Enough to constitute an important step, as their team director, Kenneth Hansen, admits: “With Lohéac, since we have a French car (the Peugeot 208, editor’s note), it is definitely one of the most important weekends of our year,” he admits. It's a very special atmosphere and both Timmy and Kevin show that they are more than ready for this challenge. »

Behind them is Andreas Bakkerud, 3rd in the standings with 92 points. Without a victory this season, he hopes to break this series and finally win. The Norwegian will have to deploy all his talent to succeed on the technical track of Höljes, where he has already won in 2013 and 2016.

Nearly 30 entered in Euro RX

Following the World RX, the European Rallycross Championship will have 27 cars. The meeting will also host the Crosscar Star Challenge which will notably welcome Marcus Grönholm and Kenneth Hansen. Team director Hansen MJP says a little more about the challenge this circuit represents: “It's a technical track where one of the priorities is to adjust the car to optimize the jumps. »

The championship regulars (Robin Larsson, Thomas Bryntesson, like the Dubourgs, Jean-Baptiste and Andréa) will of course be there. The Euro RX S1600 will finally complete the show, with 25 drivers.
